Night vision goggles (NVGs) enhance the visual capabilities of the human eye during nighttime operations. This particular model can either be helmet-mounted and powered by a battery pack mounted on the back of the helmet or handheld and powered by a top-mounted battery pack. These were modeled for the US Marine Corps KC130-J Pilot e-learning courseware to train pilots on the full operation of the goggles. They were created in 3D Studio Max, rendered with Mental Ray, and composited in Photoshop. They were textured using a combination of Photoshop and procedural materials. The modeling, texturing, lighting, and compositing were created in whole by Tim Gragg.
